Today I'm talking about the power of digital masterclasses in your business and how they can be an absolute game changer if you are looking at creating a very simple easy to create product that you can sell on repeat. So we're gonna be diving into that in today's episode but before I do I just wanna talk about the Digital Creators Hub. Now the Hub full of resources, tools, templates that's there to help you get started online. If you're not in the Hub then I encourage you to go and sign up.

Karen Davies [00:01:54]:
It's completely free, and this is going to help you to kick start your online journey. Just head on over to www.karen-davies.com/hub. Like I said, it's completely free. You get full access to everything and it's going to help you to get started online. Back to today's episode and today's episode is all about digital master classes And this episode has been inspired by what's been going on in my membership because we have been talking a lot about creating a digital master class instead of jumping in and creating a full on course.

Now what I've come to notice, and I've been teaching course creators for a while now and what keeps coming up is the overwhelm. When you're new to something, even though you might understand that it could work for your business and you like the idea of creating an online course the overwhelm can soon kick in especially if you're brand new to creating this. And so instead of jumping in and creating a full on course the next best thing is to create a digital masterclass.

Karen Davies [00:03:21]:
And all it is is a very stripped down version of something that you want to teach. So it works really well if you are introducing a topic to your audience and you want to create a lesson around a particular topic. Digital master classes are brilliant for that because they're they're relatively short in their time frame, say sixty to ninety minutes, and you can jump on and record it really easily. And then you can set up the tech in order to get it ready to sell, and then you can sell it. So there's a lot less involved in creating a digital masterclass, which is why this could be an option if you are looking to create your first digital product. So in this episode, I'm gonna walk you through why a digital masterclass is a game changer for your business. So we're gonna look at how it can really help position you as the expert. I'm gonna show you some simple steps that you can implement to plan and deliver a really high impactful master class without overcomplicating the process because let's face it, we're all guilty of doing that.

Karen Davies [00:04:42]:
And I'm also gonna walk you through how to turn your masterclass into an evergreen asset that's going to keep working for you. At the end of today's episode, you're gonna have a better understanding as to what a masterclass is and how it can really help you to grow your business. So whether you're brand new to this or maybe you're just simply looking to add another product to your digital business toolkit, then this episode is going to help you because I'm going to provide some actionable insights that's going to help you to get started. So let's start with talking about why a digital masterclass is such a powerful asset in your business. So number one, it's going to position you as the expert because a masterclass is your opportunity to share your expertise in a really focused and value packed session. So it's more than just delivering information. It's about creating that transformation for your audience. So think about it.

Karen Davies [00:05:47]:
When you guide people through a particular topic or a problem and then you go and offer position you as the go to expert in your niche. So one of the ways that I demonstrate this with what I do is I run monthly master classes. And those monthly master classes, which I deliver live, help me to present myself as the expert because I get to share what it is I know. So I deliver these live, but then I can turn them into a a recorded version and then sell them. So it's really important that if you're looking to position yourself in your industry, finding ways to prove that you're credible, that you know your stuff is going to be really important because you want to be listened to by your colleagues and your peers and other business owners within your space. And I think breaking what you know down into simple actionable steps that lead to a result is highly valuable. So it's worth thinking about what you can do in order to facilitate that transformation. So you're most likely doing it at the moment through maybe a service you provide but this way you get to teach and that's gonna demonstrate what you know and how good you are at what you do because you're going to lead your ideal person to that end place which is that result.

Karen Davies [00:07:32]:
Master classes are brilliant for that. It's like running a workshop. You may have been to a workshop or you may have, delivered a workshop yourself. By the end of the workshop, if that trainer is really good at delivering that workshop, you will lead that workshop feeling like you have been taught by an expert. And that's what digital master classes help to do. They position you as the person to listen to. The second reason is that it's going to build a deeper relationship and connection with your audience because I think there's something really powerful about connecting with people and whether you're hosting a live session. I like live sessions but I also like the option to automate it as well.

Karen Davies [00:08:21]:
So whether you're like me and you like delivering live or you like doing pre recorded stuff, you are creating a space where your audience can engage, ask questions and feel like they're being heard. So even if you are delivering a master class and you've automated it, so you've pre recorded, you can still provide ways in which your audience can ask questions. It might be that you set up a private Facebook group to run alongside the masterclass, or it might be that you have a platform that offers other sort of options where you can have a community feature. But there's lots of solutions out there on the market that help you to elevate what you're creating by being able to provide your audience with a space that they can engage with. And I think that's really important as well. I think whatever we create, whether it's live or it is pre recorded, we do wanna give our audience the ability to ask the questions that they may have so that they don't get stuck and also so we can provide them with the necessary support so that they can then go and move forward. So I think whether you like it live or prerecorded, either way, you get to build that deeper connection with your audience. And then my third reason why you should be creating digital masterclass in your business is that you can repurpose what you create as evergreen content.

Karen Davies [00:10:02]:
So you can take parts of it and you can share it on social, you can do some promotion around it, you can write blog articles about it, you can create podcast episodes about it, you can even do YouTube videos. Whatever your content preference is, you can create that content using your your masterclass. So you get to record it and then you can use that recording to promote it on autopilot as well. So there's lots that you can do and this is going to help bring people into your world and help them to purchase what you've created. You deliver a one hour masterclass, and you deliver it live because maybe at the beginning when you're new to this, you prefer to deliver the live option. Then it becomes a resource that you you can then record whilst you're delivering it live that you can then sell at a low price point. Or maybe you even bundle it in a with a course or a resource or something. Or maybe it becomes a down sell to a service or an up sell to some resource.

Karen Davies [00:11:19]:
What it does, it gives you a strategic way to increase your income. Even if you were going to use it as a free lead magnet, for example, because maybe your primary goal is about building your audience, then you can take snippets of what you've created and you can package it up and make money from it. Okay. So now that we've obviously covered the why, let's now talk about how to get started. So if the idea of planning a masterclass feels overwhelming, then let's break it down, and I've got a few steps that you can follow to kind of put this into action. So what I will say before I share the steps, this should be a very simple process. We have to try where possible not to over complicate so that we can take action and make progress and get it done. And so I'm going to give you a three step framework that you can work through.

Karen Davies [00:12:19]:
So the first step is about choosing a really clear outcome focused topic that's gonna provide, one, a specific solution. So you wanna give your audience a really quick win, something that they can walk away with and implement immediately, whether that's in their business, in their life, whatever. You wanna give them something that they can go away and put into action. So frame your topic around a really clear transformation. So for example, if you're a social media consultant, instead of maybe creating a master class all about marketing tips, which is very broad, it's very generic, then maybe think about creating something like how to create a high converting lead magnet in sixty minutes because it's very actionable, it's very clear, very specific and outcome driven. So when you're choosing your topic, you want to make sure that the title that you are choosing demonstrates what they're going to be achieving through that sixty minutes or that ninety minutes, depending how long your masterclass is. So ask yourself, what's a question that my audience always asks? So somebody comes to you and and you find that there's a bit of a theme to the questions that people are asking you about, then write down what those questions are and what is that common theme that runs through them. I know in my space with what I do, tech will always come first.

Karen Davies [00:14:06]:
It's the first thing people ask me. Not what topic should I create or how do I create my content. It is always about the tech. So write down the questions that your customers, your clients, your audience are asking because that will give you an insight into the topic that you can create a masterclass around. And then also ask, what's a quick valuable result that I can help them to achieve? So, for example, just going back to how to create a high converting lead magnet in sixty minutes, my example that I've just used, then maybe through that masterclass you're talking about what a a lead magnet is, why they need a lead magnet, how to get started, what tech to use, and the steps that they need to take in order to create it. And then maybe alongside that, there's a template or some resource that's gonna further help them. So the master class is very structured. It's very outcome led.

Karen Davies [00:15:15]:
And by the end of the master class, the person watching the master class is going to be able to take what they've learned and put it into action. Okay. Step two is about structuring your masterclass for engagement. So you want to structure it in a way that makes absolute sense. So think of your structure as the skeleton that sits within the master class. So it may be that the first five minutes is an introduction, and then the next thirty to forty minutes is going to be the core content. You might have an interactive element that's gonna last, what, five to ten minutes long, and then you're gonna leave five minutes for a call to action at the very end because you wanna make sure that at the end of the master class, you're signposting your students to the next step, which is where the online course could come in if the Masterclass is the step that they're going to need to take before your online course. It doesn't necessarily need to be an online course.

Karen Davies [00:16:20]:
It could be a consultation. It could be a strategy session. It could even be a service. It doesn't matter. It just needs to make sense to you and what it where you want to send your people. The simpler the better. And also remember that you're an expert in your field and you know what it is that people need to know to do something. And they don't know this which is why they're coming to you.

Karen Davies [00:16:47]:
It's why they're buying the masterclass because they want to learn. So don't make assumptions that that your customers are going to know what it is you're teaching them because the likelihood is that they don't. So you want to structure your masterclass in a way that covers all the key essentials so at the end of it they can actually take action and implement your teaching so that they can get the result that you're promising. And then my third step is about the tech and choosing the right tech that's going to work for you. Again, keep it simple. You do not need fancy tech to deliver a master class. Platforms like Zoom, Systeme or WebinarJam, they're really easy platforms so you can go live and record. So you can do what you need to do on the free version of Zoom.

Karen Davies [00:17:46]:
You do not need to pay for platforms that have a high price point. The focus should always be on delivering value so do not get stuck in the tech overwhelm. It is so easy to go down the rabbit hole of having to learn everything there is to know about the piece of tech that you've decided to use. Keep it simple. Keep it focused and only focus on what you needed to do. If all you needed to do is simply record you delivering your master class then focus on that. You don't need to do anything more. Keep it simple because by keeping it simple you'll actually get this done and you'll take action and you'll get yourself out of that place of overwhelm.

Karen Davies [00:18:35]:
Overwhelm often comes when we're trying to do so many different things and we get stuck because we don't know what it is we're doing. That confusion tends to set in and then before we know it, we've got distracted because we're trying to do all the things. Just stay focused on what you're trying to do. When it comes to creating a digital masterclass, you just wanna focus on recording you delivering the training. So I wanna just dive into monetizing your masterclass because you want to create something that you can make money from. And the great thing about digital masterclasses is they're they're like online courses. You can scale them. What that means is it doesn't matter if one person buys or a hundred or a thousand, once you've done the work upfront then it's about setting it up ready to take payment.

Karen Davies [00:19:32]:
So you want to be thinking about how you're going to monetize your creation. So you want to use your masterclass to warm up your audience for a bigger offer, but you still want to charge for your masterclass. So whether you're selling a membership or an online course or maybe you're even selling a one to one coaching programme, a value packed session will naturally lead people into that upsell. So at the end of your masterclass, you wanna be able to invite attendees to be able to take that next step. So when you're creating your masterclass, you need to get really intentional with what else you're wanting them to do so that you can get them to go to that next step. And it isn't about being pushy, it's about helping people to continue their journey because what you have, what you can do for somebody just by simply sharing what you know is so powerful. So please do not underestimate the valuable asset that you have in your knowledge, your skills, and your expertise. People need what what it is you have to share.

Karen Davies [00:20:50]:
And then think about the replay. The replay, once you've hosted the live session, if you're if you're recording live, once you've recorded it, you could then offer a replay option which could then be something that somebody else pays for. So what I mean by that is you could create a one hour masterclass and then price it at £19 or even for up to £49 and this can be what generates you passive income long after the recording has finished. Now I've seen first hand how powerful a master class can be. One of my clients who was brand new to the online business space created a sixty minute master class and made a ton of sales and all she was doing was sharing what she knew. Don't think that you need a massive audience in order to make it sales. The thing is once you have your knowledge packaged up in a way that somebody can access it, then that becomes a really valuable asset that you're then sharing with the people that need it. So like I say, do not underestimate the value of what you know.

Karen Davies [00:22:07]:
So I wanna give you an action plan. I want to leave you with something that you can go away and you can implement so that you can get started. So first step is go and choose a specific outcome driven topic. You probably have this already nailed, but think about how you can help. You only need to pick one problem that you're solving and make it really easy. It doesn't have to be everything in the kitchen sink. It can just be a small solution to a problem that somebody, somewhere is experiencing. Then map out a very simple structure where you can guide your audience through a pathway.

Karen Davies [00:22:54]:
So think of your structure like the skeleton of your training. What do you need to teach in that sixty to ninety minute session to get your ideal student to where they need to be in order to get that result. And then record your master class. Jump on Zoom, hit record, and record yourself delivering that master class. Now, if you need slides, then I recommend checking out Canva because Canva is absolutely brilliant for creating graphics and slide decks and resources, anything you may need to support you with your masterclass.
