And today, I'm talking about trust and why it is important in the online space what we need to do to build that trust because if you are a digital entrepreneur, an online seller. You're somebody that's looking to connect with your audience online.

Karen Davies [00:03:48]:
You have to build the trust. Trust is key. People are not going to buy from you and they're not going to listen to you if you do not have trust. And so as digital entrepreneurs. We need to focus on ways that we can build that trust with our audience so that they can, sort of, buy into what it is that we're talking about. So today, I wanna just talk about, like I say, why it's important and what we can do to authentically build that trust online. Okay. So let's start by talking about why it's important.

Karen Davies [00:04:29]:
Now in business, we all know or we should know that in order to build that know, like, and trust, there are things that we have to do. We have to show up in a specific way. We have to be authentic. We have to we have to be truthful. We have to be honest, and we have to present our businesses in a way that it's there to serve. Now long gone are the days where we're coming across these icky salesman. Now I know there are business entrepreneurs out there that still use tactics and strategies that are a little bit icky that we would obviously give a wide berth to, but we don't want to be those people. We want to be the the the entrepreneur, the business that our audience want to listen to.

Karen Davies [00:05:21]:
And so building trust is essential to building credibility because people buy from people that are credible. So when we're thinking about trust, we need to also take into account that trust leads to credibility, which is why it's important because let's face it. We all want to be credible. Now, in the online world, there are so many people vying for for our audience attention. There is so much noise online. So we need to establish credibility because that's what's going to be crucial for not only 10 new customers, but retaining them as well. Now the other thing that trust does, it encourages customer loyalty because trust is the bedrock. It's the bedrock to loyalty.

Karen Davies [00:06:16]:
Someone's not gonna stay loyal to your business and go back time and time again and keep buying from you if they don't trust you. So we have to establish that trust in order to build loyalty with our customers. When we establish trust with our audience, we can build more meaningful connections because it creates a sense of authenticity that ultimately is going to resonate with our customers. Customers. So this is going to then lead to more genuine relationships that then sort of feeds into that customer loyalty as well. It's also gonna help us to make more sales because trust is a powerful driver of conversion. Customers are more likely to buy from us or to engage with us when they trust us. And also building trust with our audience is going to enhance our reputation and image.

Karen Davies [00:07:14]:
You are creating a brand. It doesn't matter if if you are a solopreneur or you have a team of people. The the fact that you're delivering a service, you're selling a product means that you represent a brand. Your business is a brand because that is the experience that your audience are buying into, your customers are buying into. And so we need to look at our reputation and how that's been perceived. And when you have that trust in place, it's going to enhance that. So a trustworthy brand with a positive image is going to attract more customers, more opportunities than a brand that doesn't that doesn't have people's trust. Now the other thing that trust does, it helps you to build a strong online presence.

Karen Davies [00:08:04]:
So if you are looking to sell online. This is really important because it is a fundamental building block for creating a really strong, powerful online presence. People will listen to you. People will engage with you, and it will build a positive image around your business. So it's it's so essential that when we're online and we're putting our content and we're engaging with our audience, we are fostering that trust because that is the thing that is going to lead to those conversions and lead to those sales. I think if you are somebody that is operating online, you're selling online, I think building trust should be your number one strategy. I think, the questions that need to be asked is how can I create the trust with my audience so that they come to me, they rely on me? They look to me as giving them the answers. Helping because what I'm doing here is I'm serving them, and I want them to trust me that I am the person that they need to go to.

Karen Davies [00:09:16]:
And I think if you are thinking in that way, then you can build a really strong brand online, and I think that's gonna be the difference between achieving those sales or not. Okay. So let's talk about how to actually build trust online. What do you need to do to bring people into your world and keep them coming back. So first and foremost, I think the most important thing that needs to happen is you need to be authentic in all your interactions. So whether you're releasing content online through video, blog, releasing a podcast. Whatever that looks like, you have to be authentic in what you're doing because this is going to lay the foundation for any trust. People buy from people.

Karen Davies [00:10:09]:
And if you're showing up as somebody that you're not, it's going to really stand out. Now I know it's all too easy to look around in in whatever space you're in and to be influenced by people that are perhaps ahead of you and to think that that's how you need to show up. That's what you need to do in order to have the same level of success. But I don't actually think that's true. I think that people create success based on who they are and how they approach what they do. And I think all that happens is that the right audience find those people. And I think it boils down to knowing who your audience are, who knowing who exactly you wanna speak to as well, who is gonna get you, who's gonna understand what it is you're trying to say. And I think if you can sort of lean into that and be really authentic about who you are, that those people are going to be attracted to you because we want to be engaged with the people that we feel are being honest.

Karen Davies [00:11:14]:
I think, honesty is so important, especially in business. There is so much BS around in the world of business. Do this, you know, to earn, you know, your 6 figure business. You know, create an online course and sell it in a week and make a million. You know? Like, there there's so much rubbish that is being used in the world of business in order to attract buyers and generate leads and stuff. And so the way we kind of carve our path is by showing up in a in an authentic way that aligns to our values and we behave with integrity. Because I think when you behave in that manner, you can't go wrong. You're staying true to yourself.

Karen Davies [00:12:04]:
And I also believe that when we create a business, we're on a path. We're on a journey. And what you'll probably find, you might be tuned into this or not, but it is probably aligned to where you are supposed to be in your life, in your soul journey. So we have to lean into the fact that we are doing the thing that is truthful to us. And we have to take what it is that is truthful for us and we have to share that with the world because that's what we're doing. We're serving others. If you're in business, if you are selling, if you are providing a service then you are being of service to others. And I think when we come from a place of wanting to show up and serve in an authentic, honest, and transparent way.

Karen Davies [00:12:57]:
That's how we build the trust of our audience. We can't go wrong. It is so fundamental. It is so important. When you're building a brand online, which is what we're all doing because it's our reputation, we want to present it in a way that is authentic to us. We are not trying to be anybody else. You should not try and be anybody else. You should try and always be yourself and stand in your power because you are the person that people need to listen to.

Karen Davies [00:13:32]:
And so if you are looking to build trust online then I think, as I said, authenticity is the the core ingredient. It is the foundation. There is nothing more important than showing up in a truly authentic manner. The next thing that I think is important for building trust what is consistency. Now we've all been there where we have said, right. Okay. I'm going to release content x amount of times a week on these days. And then what's happened is that life has got in the way and we've not achieved our goals.

Karen Davies [00:14:12]:
I'm guilty of that. It is my ongoing challenge. I try and be consistent. But you know what? I have a very busy life. I have young kids, busy, business. I have clients. I have all these things going on in my world. And sometimes I drop the ball as do so many people, and we need to give ourselves grace for that because that is just life.

Karen Davies [00:14:37]:
However, I do things that consistency comes in many different forms, and it doesn't just boil down to how many times a week you post on social. Consistency is about how you show up. It's about your messaging. It's about doing what you need to do on a daily, weekly, monthly basis to generate the results that you need in your business. Consistency is about showing up for your audience, being there to serve them, to it's also about your branding and how you are being visually represented online and making sure that everything is consistent and cohesive right across all of your brand assets. So from your website to your social media, to how your brand image is looking, to your tone of voice, to the way you communicate with your audience. So we need to be consistent because consistency builds trust. It builds reliability.

Karen Davies [00:15:43]:
And if people know that they can rely on you because you are consistent in what you're doing, then that is gonna lead to them trusting you. So I think consistency is another component that builds trust online. The other thing I think is really important, and I sort of touched on this earlier, is transparency. I am a big believer in being transparent. There are way too many businesses out there that try and hide behind things and they're not transparent in their efforts. Transparent communication is a trust building superpower because it is so rare. And this is where you are being really clear about your products, being really clear about the services that you offer and also about the poll your policies as well. You're managing those expectations so your customers are not gonna stumble on something that is going to rock them.

Karen Davies [00:16:46]:
Being open and being honest in your communication is what builds that credibility, and it's what also establishes a really strong rapport with your audience, which is then going to lead to building trust. So make sure that in whatever you do, be transparent, be open, be honest because that is something that your audience are going to appreciate when we are around people that are transparent in what they're doing. And it might be to the point of you know, sometimes things go wrong. And rather than covering up and making excuses, be honest about it because I personally don't think there's enough honesty in the world. And I think if you are honest, you are open, you are transparent, then you really can't go wrong. So another way to build trust online is by delivering quality. Quality content, quality services, delivering on the promises that you are making into your audience. Not only meet expectations but actually exceed expectations in what you do.

Karen Davies [00:17:58]:
Because if you do that and you go the extra mile with your audience or with your clients, then they are going to want to shout about you to everyone. They are going to leave you reviews, and they're going to deliver you testimonials that you can then use in your marketing. So I always sort of think that if you're going to do something, do it properly, do it to a high level, and then that is what's going to generate you repeat business. It's something that in my branding studio, I've always tried to do. I always sort of look at projects as, okay, the client needs x. What can I do in order to take it to the next level? So, for example, if a client comes to me because they need a website, then the environment that I'm building that website in is just as important as the website itself. So it's always about right. Okay.

Karen Davies [00:18:58]:
They need a website. Why do they need a website? And how can we drive traffic to this website to make it work for them. So it's not just about taking on that project as a website because there are lots of website designers out there just as good as maybe what I am, but what I do, what I try and do that I think is taking it to the next step, giving them more than maybe what they anticipated is helping them to make their website work for them so they're not wasting their money. They are getting a return on their investment. And I've always tried to do that in whatever service that I deliver because it's this age old thing of people come to you because they have a need, but actually often what they need, they're not asking you for. So if somebody is coming to me for a website, what actually, what they need is a tool that's gonna drive leads, that's gonna market their business, that's gonna show them in a way that it's going to attract their audience that they wanna work with. But they're asking me for a website, so it's just delivering that little bit more that's gonna wow your audience. And if you can do that then you can build that trust.

Karen Davies [00:20:15]:
And then finally, a really powerful way to establish trust online is by positioning yourself as the authority in your field. Now the way that you can do this is by delivering educational content an expertise. And if you are delivering a service, you're selling a product, then you have expertise in abundance. So what can you create that is going to educate your audience and give them something that they currently do not have? Now it might be that you deliver educational videos on how to do something. It might be that you jump behind a podcast a bit like myself where you give value. You help people in a certain niche and field that you know of. Whatever it is that you do, delivering expert content it's going to build trust because what it does, it showcases you as the authority. When we are looking to stand out online and to be seen and to be heard, it's going to boil down to what we're delivering.

Karen Davies [00:21:31]:
So if you can create a channel of some kind where you are giving value, then you will build that trust and you will attract your audience. Now I've been delivering this podcast now for, I think, just I what what am I? I'm I'm episode 74. So, essentially, probably, what, just under a year and a half, and it has done wonders for building my audience. And it's done wonders also for building trust because I jump behind my microphone every single week and I talk on a topic and I share my insights. I share my value. I share my expertise. And we're not really asking anything in return, just that you listen and hopefully by the end of every episode, you will take away a little golden nugget that you can then implement into your business or maybe I've given you an insight or a perspective that you didn't have before. That either way I'm building trust.

Karen Davies [00:22:38]:
So I think if you are looking to establish yourself online and you are looking to build an audience and generate conversions so that people buy what it is you have to offer, the position yourself as an expert in your area by delivering valuable educational content because that to me is, like, it it is a no brainer. It is so incredibly powerful, and it will really put you head and shoulders above your competition, and it will really help you to stand out. Building trust online is a journey. It takes time. It's not a destination. It's not something that once you've achieved, you stop doing. It's a continuous effort all of the time. It's about fostering genuine connections and consistently demonstrating your reliability and your authenticity t as well.

Karen Davies [00:23:42]:
And never be afraid to showcase who you are and to be true to yourself because, ultimately, I think when it comes to building trust. That's the one thing that people will buy into and that is how you'll build the trust that you need in order to serve your audience.
